DESCRIPTION:Introductory Workshop — Facilitated by Linda Kohanov \nHours: 9:30 to 5:30 daily \n$1400 tuition includes lunch\, experiential activities with horses\, and materials. \nIn her fourth book The Power of the Herd\, Linda looks at traditional herding cultures where shepherds must manage large groups of powerful herd members without the benefit of fences\, nurturing all the tribe’s animals\, keeping them from straying\, fighting or getting hurt. Master Herders employ a sophisticated understanding of leadership and group cohesion as they move through seasonal grazing lands\, facing predators along the way. This knowledge\, as it applies human situations\, is emphasized throughout the Bible\, though it was downplayed when Judaism and Christianity were absorbed by city- based cultures. Through her studies of traditional pastoral cultures and twenty years experience with her own herd of horses\, Linda began to see a deeper wisdom in biblical references to shepherds and their flocks that has been virtually lost by modern civilization–and yet remains key to understanding many of the skills Jesus in particular modeled through his behavior and his teachings. \nIn sharing this perspective with tens of thousands of readers in several of her books\, Linda attracted a number of ministers\, priests and spiritual directors who came to Arizona to study her work in depth as a means of bringing greater power\, vibrancy\, and practical community building skills to their congregations. \nAt the same time\, these insights captivated people who had previously rejected the Christian faith they grew up with\, inspiring them to engage more meaningfully with Jesus as an innovator who faced incredible challenges to introduce a new form of compassionate\, socially intelligent leadership—at one of the most brutal times in history. \nThis three day equine-facilitated experiential workshop is for anyone seeking a refreshing\, innovative approach to the leadership\, and emotional and social intelligence principles that Jesus modeled two thousand years ago. Highly sensitive prey animals\, they respond to subtle changes in their handler’s body language\, providing feedback on how we are showing up in the moment. Examining our own reactions to equine behavior can lead to powerful new insights into our own natural abilities and talents and help enhance and promote personal and professional growth. \nDuring the workshop we will explore how to: \n\nGet the messages behind your emotions and move forward\, particularly in challenging situations\nConsistently access and more mindful and intuitive presence\nLead others through positive interactions (be the change)\nEstablish and maintain optimal personal space for your own personal well-being and the ability to communicate that to others\nUse your body as a sensory and communication device\, accessing the “other 90%” (non-verbal communication)\nRecognize and move beyond the limiting\, unconscious beliefs and behaviors that keep you stuck in old patterns\nOvercome counterproductive ways of thinking and reacting\, learning to respond with heart-centered presence instead.\n\nThis workshop offers the participant time to rest and reflect. A professional masseuse will do an evaluation and devise a customized plan for your spa services\, 6 hours of spa services are included in the rate. Services may include reflexology\, therapeutic and deep massage\, chakra balancing and volcanic mud wraps. \nDr. Coyne may be available for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) on horseback. This new form of therapy is very effective for anyone with any trauma. She will offer early morning yoga sessions for interested participants. \nThis workshop experience is appropriate for emotionally secure individuals who are seriously interested in exploring the transformational potential of human-horse interactions. No prior experience with horses is necessary. \nCancellation Policy: Programs/workshops are filled on a first come\, first served basis. A 50% deposit is required to secure your place in the workshop. The remainder is due 60 days before the workshop start date. Due to the unique and intensive nature of our workshops\, there is no refund in the event a registered participant cancels her/his participation less than 60 days before the workshop start date or withdraws from a program/workshop that is in session. For cancellations prior to the workshop start date\, the individual may choose to attend the same workshop the next time it is offered. DESCRIPTION:Introductory and Advanced – Facilitated by Linda Kohanov\nTime: 9:30am to 5:30pm daily \nCost includes lunch and workshop materials. \nAs Linda Kohanov observes in her book The Power of the Herd\, “Much information categorized as ‘spiritual’ is nonverbal and/or un-photographable\, not supernatural. Nonetheless there will always be an element of mystery to the invisible\, un-nameable forces that move people to perform great deeds\, leaving a sense of awe and wonder in their wake. This is especially true of men and women who tap the triumvirate of power\, vision\, and innovation\, spurring leaps in consciousness and behavior that affect generations.” \nLinda devotes several chapters to issues related to visionaries\, including those who became religious figures\, “to understand how we can move beyond crucifying or worshiping creative\, inspired thinkers\, artists\, and social activists —to become innovators and leaders ourselves.” In this effort\, direct work with horses becomes the short-cut to developing the combination of imagination\, endurance\, courage\, compassion\, and power that will help you follow your dreams\, communicate your vision\, and rally others to manifest a world where everyone’s talents are valued\, and everyone’s vulnerabilities are not only supported\, but transformed into strengths! \nThis workshop is for people who want to develop a deeper connection to their own spirit and a more soulful connection to others\, whether this quest is reflected in an established religion\, a formal spiritual practice\, or a desire to connect with something larger than the modern human ego affords. Those who would like to bring compassion\, vision\, and non-predatory power into business\, politics\, and social activism contexts will also learn skills to bring people together for a common cause. \nLisa Zinzow — a participant in the January workshop — shared the following: “This workshop totally rocked! Everything was pertinent and useful. It satisfied my need for concrete information that I can use in difficult situations with people as well as my need for self-discovery and growth.” \nUltimately\, as Linda stresses in her book\, this work is about transforming “the power plays\, traumas\, and relational habits we must alter to move forward productively as free\, empowered people. Here we stretch beyond ‘liberal’ and ‘conservative’ agendas\, looking at behavior patterns that wreak havoc beneath the surface of all cultural\, religious\, business\, political\, scientific\, and philosophical persuasions.” \nBeyond these crucial social intelligence skills\, however\, this workshop gives you even more tools to become an innovative force for change. As Linda explains in a chapter titled “The Invisible:” \nTrue visionaries don’t just notice what was previously hidden or ignored by the culture at large\, they help others to see it and use it. Communicating the unspeakable becomes an essential part of the innovator’s job\, as does handling the frustration of being misunderstood\, and struggling\, constantly\, to create more clarity. We’re not just talking art and religion here. The classic “finger pointing at the moon” dilemma most certainly applies to countless other disciplines\, especially those related to leadership presence and social intelligence. In this respect\, horses are emerging as reliable catalysts for expanded vision\, empowerment\, and the recognition of other\, currently un-nameable skills necessary for people to excel. \nUlrike Dietmann — a talented writer who established her own Epona-based equine-facilitated learning practice in Germany — teaches creativity\, leadership\, and personal development skills that help others sense and follow their own unique callings. Her newly-translated book\, On the Wings of Horses: A Hero’s Journey into the Heart of the Creature says it best: “Animals reflect our internal states. Their behavior follows an invisible energy. This is something that astonishes me again and again.
