Best selling author Linda Kohanov will offer two workshops in Northern California in July as part of her summer tour in support of her fifth book, The Five Roles of a Master Herder: A Revolutionary Model for Socially Intelligent Leadership.
Linda will be leading two types of workshops: There are the multi-day, equine-facilitated workshops where people practice the various roles with horses through safe yet still profound—and fun—ground activities. There is no horse experience needed, but the nature of these workshops makes it necessary to limit them to 8 to 12 people. “Because of the facilities and the kinds of expert horse teachers we need for these trainings, fully experiential workshops reflect those costs, but working with horses to learn the five roles is incredibly effective,” Linda says. “Once you can set boundaries with a thousand pound animal, gain his trust, direct him to perform a certain goal, and entice him to follow you willingly with no restraints, using these same roles with a 200-pound boss, employee, or family member is suddenly no big deal.”
Spaces are still available for the Sebastapol, CA workshop July 8 to 10 at http://eponaquest.com/workshop/5-roles-california/.
“But not everyone has the time or inclination to attend an equine-facilitated workshop, at least not at first,” Linda reports. “Over the years, I’ve also developed powerful indoor workshops for larger groups of people. These seminars allow me to introduce the tools and concepts from The Five Roles of a Master Herder at a much lower cost. Participants will get to take the Master Herder Professional Assessment and receive coaching in how to interpret the results. They will also learn how to balance the roles in their personal as well as professional lives. And they’ll learn some innovative skills for handling conflict and for motivating and empowering others. This workshop offers innovative, nature-based tools for executives, managers, and coaches, as well as people who work in non-profit, social service, political and community-based organizations. Parents and teachers also benefit from learning how to employ the Five Roles with children of all ages.”
Two attendees of the one-day Master Herder workshop in Dallas last month shared the following when asked about their experience:
“Linda’s revolutionary work delivers a tangible model for leadership and the tools to enable you and your team to lead happier, healthier and more productive lives. If you recognize the need for change in the way we work and live, you won’t want to miss it.”
— Michelle Denton, Adviser, Clinton White House.
“I found Linda’s master herder workshop to be fascinating and applicable to so many parts of our lives and work. Anyone interested in authentic relationships with humans and animals will benefit.”
— Laura Williams

A number of businesses have brought Linda and her colleagues in to do these workshops for their staff on site, including Nike, Chubb Insurance, the Bensman Group, a number of credit unions and financial institutions, and a nationally recognized animal rescue organization.
“I’m pleased to be able to open such workshops up to a wider public when I go on tour.” Linda will be announcing some events in Virginia Beach, Utah, and Western Canada as soon as the details are firmed up.
